Winter Vacation

Winter break was wonderful. I got to spend time at home and saw my entire family. I hung out with my mom for the short time she was in Miami and enjoyed every moment with my sisters and my dad. I have to admit, I did spend the most of my time with Ryan at his house. We cooked and (I) baked up a storm, it was great. The weather was nice and it got so chilly that we had to buy a fire pit, we bundled up, at s'mores, and drank whiskey. Here is a picture of our homemade cranberry, raisin bread, walnut bread and our nut & seed bread

Ryan and I decided it would be fun to host a surprise dinner for each other. We came up with some ideas and went to the store, prepared the food and didn't have the slightest idea what we were making for one another. We saw the produce and ingredients , but I know for a fact I was completely blown away. He hit the nail right on the head... I think I did too.
Thats my sweet potato ravioli filling

For me, he put together a Grilled Tuna steak with a citrus chimichuri over a bed of sauted peppers and pine nuts , grilled sweet potatoes, AND quiona with layers of avocado, grapefruit, and asparagus. Out of this world!

I made sweet potato ravioli in a brown butter sauce topped with fried shallots, sauted kale with bacon and pine nuts, and roasted pork chop. sorry this is not a picture of it all, He's too fast.

Here are our homemade chewy granola everything bars. These babies had dried cranberries, cherries, blueberries, raisins, walnuts, almonds, peanuts, and chocolate. We made a couple varieties.
